Compare the specific Rinnai and Rheem models offered for your home, including their capacity, winter delivery, warranty and installed price. A brand name alone won’t tell you which will suit. For hot water installation in Canberra, ask Ethan which models fit your household’s demand and existing connections.

Compare the specifications
| Compare | Why it matters | Evidence to request |
|---|---|---|
| Usable storage or winter flow | Determines whether it serves your household | Product data and sizing calculation |
| Recovery and controls | Determines recovery after peak use | Manual and tariff compatibility |
| Dimensions and clearances | Determines whether it fits safely | Installation instructions |
| Warranty parts and labour | Determines what a future claim covers | Terms for the exact model |
| Service support | Affects how faults are addressed locally | Named service route and parts availability |
This guide compares specifications and installation requirements. It does not rank failure rates: reviews, warranty lengths and installer preferences are insufficient to establish which brand lasts longest.
Rinnai Infinity 26 and its replacement
The Infinity 26 manufacturer page is marked discontinued and directs buyers to the Infinity B26. A quote should name the current product offered, not merely “Rinnai 26L”. For Rheem, use the exact model and its matching owner’s guide and warranty. A family name can span different capacities, materials and control features.
Ask why the model suits your home
Ask why the nominated model suits your demand and site, what alternative was considered, and which assumptions could change the advice. For a heat pump, ask about winter recovery, operating limits and sound placement. For continuous flow, ask about simultaneous outlet delivery and gas supply. For storage, ask about reheating and tariff timing. The recommendation should explain how the model meets your demand and fits the site.
First compare the same type of system
Identify whether each quote is for electric storage, gas storage, continuous flow or a heat pump. Then compare capacity, delivery, recovery, location requirements and installed scope. A low-price storage tank and a premium heat pump are not equivalent purchases.
If the type is still undecided, start with our Canberra system comparison. Once that is settled, ask each supplier for the exact model number rather than a brand name and a generic capacity.
Read the warranty in separate parts
Look for cylinder or heat-exchanger coverage, other parts coverage, labour, conditions and exclusions. Check domestic versus commercial use and any servicing or registration obligations. Rheem’s warranty page directs buyers to the applicable information for their product.
A long component warranty does not necessarily cover the full cost of a service visit. Ask who pays for diagnosis, labour or access work at different stages of the warranty. Keep the written terms with the installation invoice.
Where Dux, Thermann and other brands fit
Use the same checklist for Dux, Thermann, Aquamax, EvoHeat, Bosch or any other proposed brand. Ask whether the exact product is currently available and supported locally. Do not assume a brand’s country of origin tells you where every product is made.
If you are comparing a retail Dux unit, see our Bunnings installation checklist. Include delivery, connections and installation responsibilities in the comparison.
What should I ask the installer to recommend?
Describe the household’s peak demand, space, budget and future plans. Ask for a recommendation with reasons and an explanation of any alternative worth considering. Then ask what would make the recommended model unsuitable.
Use the sizing checklist to describe demand accurately. For an existing faulty unit, get a diagnosis before assuming a change of brand will solve the problem.
Compare written proposals
Put the model number, installed inclusions, warranty documents and service contact beside each other. Compare the written proposals side by side. For hot water system replacement in Canberra, speak with Ethan and ask which available models suit the actual job.
